Tidings

The tide, anywhere on the coast.

What It Does

Drop a pin on the coast and Tidings shows you the tide there, on a 1-bit pixel-art map. The pin sticks to the coast.

  • The current height, and whether the tide is rising or falling
  • The next highs and lows
  • A 24-hour tide curve
  • Favourites for the places you check often
  • Home Screen widgets
  • An Apple Watch app with complications
  • Themes

Tidings runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

How It Works

Predictions come from the harmonic constants of tide stations, blended by distance through the water, then refined by a model that runs on your device.

Tidings works fully offline. All of its map, tide and place data ships inside the app.

For Planning, Not Navigation

Tide predictions are estimates. Do not use Tidings for navigation or for anything where your safety depends on the tide. Use official tide tables and charts for that.

Privacy

Tidings has no account and collects no data. It makes no network connections. If you allow location access, your location is used on your device to centre the map and is never sent anywhere. Read the privacy policy.

Support

Email support@billie.coop. Tell us your device, its iOS or watchOS version, the app version from the About page, and the place you were looking at.

The widgets or the watch are empty

The widgets and the Apple Watch app show your favourites from the iPhone app. Add a favourite on your iPhone first.

Adding a widget

Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and choose Tidings.

Adding a complication

On your Apple Watch, touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, swipe to the complications, tap a slot and choose Tidings.
